Crowns and bridges can be used to replace teeth that have become lost. Dental crowns can also restore severely damaged teeth.
Because crowns and bridges are custom-made, a patient needs to make a minimum of two visits to our practice to receive one of these restorations. During the first visit, we will take impressions of the patient’s teeth and make plans for how the restoration will be constructed and installed. The impressions we take will be sent to a special dental laboratory where highly trained specialists will build a custom restoration. Once we receive the crown or bridge, the patient can return for their follow-up visit to have it fitted. All of the crowns and bridges we provide are built from porcelain, a very well regarded material for its strong performance and natural look.
Crowns
Crowns can be used to replace lost teeth or to repair teeth with severe damage. How a crown is installed will depend on the purpose it is serving. A crown that is restoring a damaged tooth will be placed over the existing structure and serve as a “cap” for the tooth. To replace a missing tooth, a dental implant must be installed to support the crown. In that case, the crown itself will serve as the new tooth, and the implants will function as the anchor and roots. Some crowns are all installed for the purpose of supporting dental bridges. But whenever we install a crown, we make sure that it provides the best function possible for the patient. This includes ensuring that the patient can use the restoration effectively and that it does not interfere with their overall bite.
Bridges
A dental bridge is used when a patient needs to replace one or more missing teeth in a row. The main component of a dental bridge is the prosthetic replacement teeth in the center, which “bridges” the gap created by lost teeth. Then on each end of a dental bridge is a supporting crown called an abutment. Bridges may also receive added support from one or more dental implants that are inserted into the jawbone.

My father was in town for my sister’s wedding and had one of his front fillings come out two days before the wedding. Dr. Cesar Chilmaza was able to get him last minute and did an amazing job. My father said that he did a better job fixing it than the original filling! Not only did he do a great job, he and his staff we so friendly and knowledgeable and did everything in their power to help take care of him. Thanks to Dr. Cesar my sister’s wedding photos won’t be a disaster!

Cesar is amazingly kind and patient with my endless questions. I’m ridiculously terrified of the dentist and they somehow understand my fears while gently coaxing me to follow the treatment plan they recommend. They’re also open evenings for those of us still working. Simply put, they’re quite delightful!
